About Me

Hi there! I’m Bella Fricker, and I’m excited to share my corner of the horsey internet with you. Endurance is my favorite discipline because it’s so much more than just the competition but about everyday care, management, and training. I love the attention to detail that’s needed to perform at our best. Of course, a bit of luck plays a role too! I’m just an ordinary girl working a 9-5 job, dreaming of one day representing GBR again, but this time at the World Championships.

I’m incredibly passionate about horse husbandry and welfare. I prioritise good practices, schooling, training variability, and lots of rest time for the horses. As a holistic horse care practitioner, my horse’s are currently barefoot (and I’m dabbling with hoof boots), track systems, 24/7 turnout, and ad lib forage to keep my horses happy and healthy. I’m also a qualified nutrition advisor for a leading horse feed manufacturer in the UK, which allows me to contribute to their well-being through proper nutrition.

I’ve had the honor of representing Team GBR at the European Championships as a Young Rider and at the Nations Cup as a senior, and I’m currently serving as the Chef d’Equipe of the England Endurance squad. Over the years, I’ve competed on more than 30 horses, from novice levels up to 3* competitions. I’ve also had the pleasure of crewing and riding multiple race and best condition winners.

My riding journey has taken me to working for a UAE stable and one in France too, where I had the pleasure of being paid to ride and compete! I also enjoy organising FEI and national-level endurance events, ensuring they run smoothly and are enjoyable for all involved.

I love sharing the highs and lows of equestrian sport. Living with complex PTSD, I’ve overcome many mental challenges in competition and even just riding at home. I’ve faced numerous riding injuries, so I’ve become quite adept at making comebacks. Fitness is a passion of mine, and I enjoy playing netball, running, cycling, and hitting the gym.

And of course, the main characters in all my stories these days are my four wonderful horses: Chip, Fern, Raine, and Zest. They bring so much joy and inspiration to my life – and vet bills! So far, I’ve managed to experience arthritis, soft tissue injury, kissing spine surgery, laminitis, gastric ulcers, sarcoids, colic, choke to name just a few! Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing all the highs and lows of horse ownership!

Thanks for joining me on this journey!
